 Local singer/song writer Melaine Morrison blends folk, country, pop and even a bit of smooth jazz on her recently released CD On The Inside. The 13 tracks on the CD showcase her clear, soothing voice (she sounds a little like Mary Chapin Carpenter), and ability to craft melodies that unfold like scenery through the window of a train.The songs deal with self-discovery, the power of friendship, and the universal truths about love and life. Standout cuts include the jazzy "To Water", the confessional title track, and the hook-filled, anti-war "Eye for an Eye" ("an eye for an eye equals victory/only in the movies"). Morrison is the board president for New Beginnings For Women and Children, an organization that helps homeless Women and children in Tucson become economically self-sufficient. Proceeds from the CD benefit the organization, with which Morrison has been involved with for about six years. The CD is available locally and from melainemorrison.com.
